Role Summary: The Tax Operations Leader will report to the Global Tax Director of GE Oil & Gas and will be responsible all aspects of tax operations (including tax controllership, tax return preparation, technical accounting, and tax FP&A) for the business. The Tax Operations Leader will lead a team of tax professionals dedicated to these functions and will aim to ensure that all tax filing and reporting requirements are met and comply fully and with the highest integrity with the laws around the world.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Tax Operations Leader, you will:
Create a culture of transparency, communication and accountability to drive compliance with policy & standards
Manage the relationship with O&G Controllership organization, the GE/PWC Alliance and Global Ops to both assist them with their tax reporting obligations and to maintain a strong control framework for tax compliance and filings
Manage relevant global compliance processes, including SOX 404 documentation and annual return to provision processes
Assist with responses to external and internal audit teams to support statutory financial statement compliance
Oversee effective tax rate review, FIN 48 analysis, Deferred Tax and Valuation Allowance analysis on a quarterly and annual basis
Manage the reporting cycles to forecast taxable income position, effective tax rate and associated tax cash-flow requirements
Support global tax team to drive the efficient utilization of tax provision software tools, processes and procedures for calculating the tax provision and related FIN 48 documentation
Oversee the preparation of annual US federal income tax returns and foreign information reporting
Partner to implement tax initiatives, drive simplification and process improvements, and support standardization of best practices
Support due diligence and acquisition integration
Provide support on ad hoc business and tax planning initiatives
Masters of Taxation from an accredited college or university
Minimum 15 years of tax experience in major accounting firm, law firm, or multinational company
Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university
Certified Public Accountant
Expertise in tax accounting principles (ASC 740, Fin 48, Sox 404) and US tax rules (international and domestic)
Excellent communication skills, including strong competence in explaining complex tax issues, opportunities, and risks to non-tax experts in a clear and concise manner
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a global team
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, positive attitude, good analytical skills and ability to work within a matrixed organization
Solid PC skills: experience with financial systems/ applications (Oracle, SAP, HFM, Business Objects, etc.)
