Role Summary: The Materials Manager will establish internal processes required to provide the material supply for distribution and manufacturing of high quality products as well as monitor the results of those processes with internal and external customers. In this role, you will demonstrate accountability for functional, business and broad company objectives.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Materials Manager, you will:
Ensure inventory and service goals are met and drive the results with customer focus
Provide leadership in using advanced planning tools to model, simulate, and release optimized material plans to the organization and in developing, planning and implementing the master schedule
Set strategic direction for planning and buyer activities within the organization
Determine and apply appropriate optimization methodologies to balance service level, inventory, and resource utilization using advanced planning tools
Enhance the current processes, through the use of data, such that they are compatible with the principles of Demand Based Management
Team management of salaried employees. This does include material planners, buyers and an inventory leader
Coach and mentor team members. Respond to the needs and concerns of employees providing them with the tools and facilities required to perform their jobs properly and with a high level of accountability / ownership
Give input to business programs of an encompassing part of a function or a business unit and to midterm plan
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Materials and Logistics, Operations Management or Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of experience in in inventory management, shop operations, facilitation and production control in a manufacturing environment; production planning, inventory management principles and practices, or materials management disciplines
Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and to customers
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and resolve appropriately
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to evaluate the impact of actions on the business and our customers
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to bring strategic assignments to a successful completion
Ability to work a flexible schedule coincidental with manufacturing functions and global suppliers, and hourly internal constituents
Fluent in ERP system management: Oracle, SAP preferred
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt or equivalent quality certification
