Role Summary: As part of GE Renewable Energy's IT Security & Risk organization, the Staff Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for leading Renewable Energy's Critical Business Information (CBI) Protection Program. The CBI Protection Program is focused on identifying, assessing and protecting Renewable Energy's most valuable intellectual property and trade secrets.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, the Staff Cyber Security Engineer will establish a multi-year and global data protection strategy that addresses Renewable Energy's highest cyber security risks to its sensitive business information. This strategy will translate emerging cyber risks and threats into actionable requirements.
As the Staff Cyber Security Engineer, you will: • Define strategy and technology roadmap for the Data Protection and CBI Protection programs • Communicate and present strategy and progress updates to executive leadership • Collaborate with government and industry peers to promote data protection, secure collaboration and cyber intelligence sharing • Continually evaluate new threats, solutions and the impact on IT (Information Technology) / OT (Operational Technology) and business operations and balancing these needs to develop and implement the best security solutions for the business • Liaise with Enterprise Architects and Security Architects to build and continuously update security controls to meet new threats • Operationalize and deploy new IT Risk solutions across Renewable Energy in collaboration with other GE Digital & other industrial organizations
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems (IS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 3 years of experience in an IS project management and program planning role) • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on IT security experience in database, web technologies, networking, or a combination thereof in a large Enterprise setting
Desired Characteristics: • Strong technical background, demonstrated appetite for new technology, willingness to be very hands-on in a deeply technical and fast-evolving technology area • Proven ability to influence at all levels and within all functions of the business, including the executive level • Proven leadership skills in both business planning and information technology in a matrixed environment • Ability to drive change in a challenging environment in an inclusive manner • Demonstrated problem solving and logical thinking skills • Strong oral and written communication skills • Established project management and organizational abilities • GE Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) Graduate (GE employees only) • CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) or equivalent security certification or training • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification
