Role Summary:
The Sr Staff Data Scientist – Security will be a key member of the Data Science & Analytics team in GE O&G Digital. You will lead teams as the data science expert addressing cyber security analytics. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of analytics products that conform to world class technology principles and maximize re-use and commercial opportunity.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with Product Management & Strategy
    teams to arrive at the overall strategy & delivery plans of various
    features in the Asset Performance Management (APM) suite of products. You will
    be responsible for shaping security technology, product, and service roadmaps
    for image and video analytics in alignment with business strategy and
    blueprint. You will also be responsible for developing and coaching employees
    within the function.
  • As the Sr Staff Data Scientist – Security, you will:
  • Develop cyber security analytics strategy for the Oil &
    Gas industry and deliver differentiation for the O&G Digital products.
  • Provide thought leadership for security analytics for
    enterprise-grade applications
  • Participate in data science workouts to security analytics
    opportunities and identify opportunities to use data science to create customer
    value
  • Guide cross-functional teams to translate algorithms into
    commercially viable products and services.
  • Investigate and apply cyber security analytics using machine
    learning and deep learning techniques to create outcome summaries, and create
    high-fidelity modeling capabilities for various product requirements.
  • Guide and otherwise contribute to technical teams in
    development, deployment and application of applied analytics, predictive
    analytics and prescriptive analytics.
  • Architect and design self-learning systems that can detect
    intrusions and take mitigative actions based on information learned from a variety
    of data sources including time series data, images and videos.
  • Gather and analyze data, devise innovative data science
    solutions and build prototypes to enable development of security algorithms for
    solutions in scalable, product-ready code.
  • Initiate and propose unique and innovative security
    analytics product features, develop new and innovative algorithms and
    technologies, pursuing patents where appropriate
  • Stay current on published state-of-the-art algorithms and
    competing technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of software and security
    analytics delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components
    across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different
    methods for different businesses.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology,
    industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational
    support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.
  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others
    throughout the domain.
  • Takes a holistic systems perspective to solve large-scale
    problems.
  • Envisions, compares and contrasts multiple potential
    long-range enterprise-wide futures.
  • Effectively drives consensus while empathizing with multiple
    points of view
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: mobile and
    distributed systems/cloud computing security, protocols and network security,
    cryptography and cryptanalysis, cryptocurrencies, data and application
    security, malware and program analysis, user and data privacy, assurance and
    formal methods, and related fields.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • MS Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science,
    Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 8 years of technical experience along with
    established leadership credentials across product lines.
  • With a minimum of 5yrs as a Data Scientist in security
    analytics.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will
    not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this
    job
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San
    Ramon, CA
  • Must be willing to travel roughly 5%of the time



Desired Characteristics:

  • PhD in computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science,
    Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Expertise in technical project management and a proven track
    record for delivering projects on time with limited budget and resources
  • Strong distributed systems and architecture knowledge, and
    experience with multitier architecture
  • Mission critical systems experience is preferred
  • Experience developing applications in an agile/DevOps
    environment would be a distinct advantage, including previous experience of
    writing code
  • Experience working in a Java web development shop
  • Solid understanding of software development tools &
    infrastructure

Technical Expertise:

  • Proven experience in security analytics techniques and
    frameworks including deep learning frameworks
  • Experience coding in C/C++/Java/Python
  • Strong implementation experience with high-level languages
    and frameworks such as R, Python, Perl, Ruby, Scala, Apache Spark, Storm, SAS
    or MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated ability working with embedded systems
  • Strong hands-on skills in sourcing, cleaning, manipulating
    and analyzing large volumes of data
  • Experience with end-to-end modeling projects, from research
    to solutions to analytics products
  • Participates in enterprise strategy development, including
    environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business
    innovation portfolio development. Reviews and/or analyzes and develops
    architectural requirements at domain level, aligning architectural requirements
    with software development strategy.
  • Leads and facilitates the domain’s architecture governance
    process based on EA’s governance structure.

Business Acumen:

  • Create, analyze and manage projects that provide direct
    business benefit; demonstrate detailed knowledge of business operations and
    strategic direction, including merger & acquisition opportunities
  • Understand industry trends and competitive landscape and the
    implications for your GE business
  • Partner with business leaders to align projects with
    business goals and needs.

Leadership:

  • Develops the business case for approval.
  • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others
    throughout their domain.
  • Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives and
    trigger recommendations for substantial innovative / enhancements, and analysis
    of consequences.

  • Participates with senior business leaders and subject matter
    authorities in defining strategies and courses of action that will impact the
    enterprise.
  • Challenges conventional thinking and traditional ways of
