Role Summary:
As Data Engineer, you will be responsible for development and testing of data engineering solutions and provide support for analytics products and enterprise grade applications at scale. An Ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about design and development, learn & adapt to changing technologies, and can work effectively both independently and in a team of developers.

Essential Responsibilities:

As Data Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and test data engineering solutions including data
    modeling, data quality and semantic/meta data development.
  • Provide operational support for data warehousing
    applications including troubleshooting, monitoring and resolving bugs in a
    timely manner.
  • Work in an Agile Scrum team and support development of
    analytic software products on an Internet of Things (IOT) platform.
  • Work closely with multiple stake holders that includes
    engineers with oil & gas domain expertise to deliver high quality scalable
    software
  • Contribute to design enhancement.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors
    (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards
    relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. We will not sponsor individuals for
    employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Must be willing to travel (5%)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San
    Ramon, USA



Desired Characteristics:

  • High attention to detail including ability to manage
    multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Able to communicate technical details with clarity to
    various stakeholders
  • Ability to track, recommend, and implement resolutions to
    issues
  • 3 years of technical experience in data modeling,
    implementing data access layers for reporting, data discovery and metadata
    management
  • Proficient in SQL and Extraction, Transformation and Loading
    (ETL) processes, DB performance tuning, table partitioning and shell scripting.
  • Expertise in Relational and NoSQL database platforms for
    application development.
  • Proficiency in data modeling concepts and tools
  • Experience with Hadoop/Hive/Spark and other Distributed file
    systems
  • Ability to create complex and efficient queries for large
    datasets
  • Experience in working in Scrum teams and Agile methodology
  • Ability to learn new technologies and take on hands-on
    development work based on business priorities
  • Must be a team player with good attitude.
  • Works well in fast paced growing environment.
  • Effective teaming and problem solving abilities
  • Able to interface effectively with peers in the organization

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong Database programming background - Fluent with
    writing/debugging stored procedures, building new scripts and performance
    tuning of queries.
  • Exposure to Big Data trends and patterns around building
    analytics is a plus.
  • Knowledge about build tools like gulp/grunt, maven etc.

Business Acumen:

  • Strong business analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and
    with other GE businesses

Leadership:

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to help build
    effective solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including executive
    level presentation skills

Personal Attributes:

  • Proactively engages with cross-functional teams to resolve
    issues and design solutions using critical thinking and best practices
  • Maintains excitement for a process and drives to new
    directions of meeting the goal in the face of unfavorable odds and setbacks
