Role Summary:
Works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver features and products. Routinely collaborates with UX Design team to share customer needs, behaviors and elaborate on personas. Collaborates with Product Managers (Product Owners) for the release and sprint backlogs and short-term roadmap (quarterly releases). Collaborates with the architecture team to understand short term architecture designs and communicate those designs to the development teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

Be an Oil & Gas domain resource to answer Oil & Gas domain specific questions related to drilling and production methods, techniques, and processes.

As the Sr Technical Product Manager, you will:

  • Collaborates with Product Managers/TPMs to manage the backlog; continuously orders and prioritizes to ensure that release iteration sprints backlog are always ready.
  • Prioritize continuously in accordance with the understanding and validation of customer problems and needs.
  • Collaborates with Product Managers/TPMs to decompose features into consumable user stories.
  • Engages frequently (50% of the time) with the development team; facilitates discussions, provides clarification, testing and validation; contributes to design activities and decisions.
  • Collaborates with Product Managers/TPMs to translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work units.
  • Partners with Service Owners/ Development Managers to ensure healthy development process. Applies Agile Methodology.
  • Work with Product Managers to translate the long-term strategy & roadmap into actionable features
  • Support Definition and evolve the software design to support the long-term product roadmap
  • Oversee execution, integration and deployment of end user features in conjunction with technical architecture and non-functional requirements
  • Work with multiple stakeholders (internal & external) to define the overall scope of their work and meet the Quality metrics needed to monitor the performance of the ongoing work
  • Define the nonfunctional requirements associated with the systems working closely with technical leadership
  • Act as the Agile product owner for ongoing development sprints prioritizing features to be developed based on technical competency and end user value metrics
  • Work directly with defined end users to align prioritized features for Agile development
  • Communicate business objectives and priorities for near term and long term to technical execution teams by leveraging technical knowledge of Oil & Gas upstream best practices

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in “STEM” Majors (Petroleum / Electronics / Electrical / Computer Science or Information Technology)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Software Development for industrial solutions (preferably Oil & Gas)

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Must be willing to travel (25%)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA.

  • Agile & SCRUM development experience
  • Demonstrated program management and business planning processes, having experience with the full product lifecycle
  • Ability to influence development team and product managers through persuasive discussion.

    Technical Expertise:

  • Experience in Oil & Gas upstream processes; exploration, drilling, completions, and production lifecycle
  • Experience in development and/or product definition of industrial solutions within asset management domain, process optimization, or analytical applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work with architects and product mangers to support development of system architecture to support functional roadmap
  • Knowledgeable of relevant software and web standards such as HTML5, SAS70, H.264, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience of Agile software development of customer facing industrial applications
  • Demonstrated experience leading virtual development teams with ability to prioritize respective work scopes to meet customer facing contract requirements
  • Demonstrated development of large-scale, web-based solutions involving multiple systems and demonstrated experience in Strategy definition, System &
  • Solution Design, Estimation, Development across various stake holders, System Integration, Acceptance, Deployment, Operations & Monitoring
  • Developed cloud based solutions and/or SAAS offerings
  • Demonstrated experience in visualization frameworks for industrial solutions, such as Slim PHP, D3, VEGA, etc.

    Business Acumen:

  • Adjusts information (e.g. level of complexity) & story to align with audience. Clearly articulates the value of what is most important to the customer & how GE solutions &/or services can meet the customer’s outcomes; Produces functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation & storytelling concepts.
  • Domain and domain specific technology expertise in Oil and Gas, preferably in one or more of the key O&G segments such as Upstream, Downstream, Midstream and LNG
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Predictive Maintenance, Asset Integrity, Inspections and related digital capabilities.

    Leadership:

  • Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
  • Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
