Role Summary:
In this role, you will lead the EHS function, drive culture change, compliance assurance, and continuous improvement activities in the site's environmental health & safety. You will be required to meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Health & Safety risk assessment and identify preventive and protective measures to reduce risks and reduce injuries
  • Work with the business operational managers to ensure that all operational activities are clearly identified and risk assessed to ensure safe working procedures are developed and any safety hazards are appropriately controlled (e.g. barriers and engineering controls)
  • Lead Environmental programs for the site to ensure the compliance with Law and applicable regulation
  • Develop a relationship and Liaise with government agencies and GE EM IS EHS HQ staff on EHS issues
  • Provide internal and external customer focus, strong commitment to the operationalization of EHS activity
  • Lead, mentor and develop EHS EE’s
  • Drive leadership accountability for EHS performance metrics/improvement
  • Be responsible for identification and timely submission of all applicable EHS permits (fire safety occupancy permits and any environmental/operating permits required for the facility)
  • Oversee EHS training program to deliver EE engagement, improved EHS performance and ensure employees understand workplace hazards and risks in order to drive an accident prevention culture
  • Participate in the investigation of all recordable accidents and incidents
  • Ensure effective working relationships with GE EM IS EHS HQ staff and EHS Leaders to leverage best practices, and outreach to government agencies
  • Develop site emergency response plan and incident management team to be operational prior to occupancy
  • Support the facilities team to identify safety and security critical equipment and develop preventative maintenance plans to manage these effectively and compliantly
  • Conduct compliance and framework audits and reviews necessary to meet company and local compliance requirements to reduce risk liability
  • Drive the site safety culture by leading a multi-functional safety team and providing safety and environmental training to others, perform inspections of equipment, tools and facility for compliance with GE policy and Governmental safety and Environmental regulations
  • Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions
  • Execute post-incident investigations and drive closure of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) at the direction of Operations and EHS Leadership


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Strong EHS Leadership experience
  • Mechanical & Electrical skills
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Proficient computers skills in Excel, Word, Web Tools
  • Fluent in English
