Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform pre- and post-submission checks of VAT returns:
- Review of S2V reconciliation
- Review of non-VAT-able activity
- Control over transactions in foreign and notional currencies
- Input VAT recovery check on material transactions
- Review of reverse charge VAT payments
- Review of exports and imports within the Eurasian Economic Union from VAT standpoint
- Control over input VAT separate accounting
- Review of VAT write-offs, etc.
• Ensure that all VAT/GST returns and associated statistical filings for all client businesses are filed and paid on time
• Control of VAT assessments/error reporting and correspondence with fiscal offices
• Work with other functions within Global Ops and Business and Corporate VAT teams to ensure that the documents required for audits are properly stored and archived
• Identify GE business needs for VAT/GST Operations services and co-ordinate new business services transitions at a local level
• Delivery of VAT controllership, reporting and related services to GE businesses registered for VAT in RCIS Central Asia region
• Manage cost liquidation process (including budget preparation and re-estimation, communication with businesses, coordination of billing process and control over the team’s costs)
• Maintenance of GE legal entities on the VAT/GST Reporting Tool (VRT) or Global VAT Tool (GVT) including process/compliance improvements, consolidation & submission (where appropriate) to local tax authorities – co-ordination of the settlement of VAT liabilities to/from tax authority
• Review & provide support to any VAT Reporting & Controllership Tools, i.e. VRT/GVT and ensure that the DTPs (Desk Top Procedures) and the TKB (The Tax Knowledge Base) is kept up-to-date for VAT in cooperation with Business and Corporate VAT Managers (Country/Regional & Technical/Policy)
• Control over the VAT related processes in 1C8 and GOF support on VAT related issues in 1C8
• Train GE finance teams on the use of the on-line VAT tools and support in the implementation of new VAT related processes
• Provide VAT controllership services to Alstom companies and integrate Alstom’s VAT return preparation process into the current GE processes
• Proactively address gaps in process standards, training and documentation, identify and recommend improvement ideas for productivity & simplification of integrations processes.
• Support on VAT advisory activities for the country or region in close cooperation with Business and Corporate VAT Managers (Country/Regional & Technical/Policy) to Business Finance, Global Operations or any other functions which require help
• Support the Tax & VAT Migration & Audit Team and/or Business VAT and Corporate VAT Managers (Country/Regional & Technical/Policy) in any external & internal audits. Ensure that the audit ready documents are prepared and reviewed prior they are presented to the external auditors
• Initiate, coordinate/lead and/or support - in close cooperation with Business VAT and Corporate VAT Managers (Country/Regional & Technical/Policy) - critical VAT projects related to service quality, productivity, process simplification, digitization and harmonization as required
• Support VAT Leader for RCIS in any additional queries as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years of VAT/TAX experience for Kazakhstan with key focus on local VAT compliance
• Highly developed sense of customer service and ability to communicate in a multi-country, multi-cultural environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize conflicting tasks, projects and delivery date
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong oral and written communication skills in both Russian and English
