Role Summary:
Provides technical controllership leadership and guidance to both finance and operations leaders for a specialist area within controllership globally, or provides strategic operational controllership leadership for large/complex Country or Region, or a small to medium P&L globally. May lead a team of assistant controllers and accountants.

Essential Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
•Support Regional controller for commercial and technical aspects of the business
•Mentor & coach other team member(s) to develop talent and pipeline and continue to focus on creating a team that is strong on execution and passionate about their roles
•Build strong relationships with the Commercial & Operational teams across EGM and be viewed as the ‘go to’ person for financial decision-making
•Forge strong relationships with the MENAT and Budapest Global Operations teams and other COEs to ensure timely, accurate Reporting for the areas they own
•Ensure the Business Finance Managers are connected with changes in the accounting organization and processes and maintain high service levels through liaison with the GE Global Operations team
Rigorous Reporting Environment
•Key participant in annual pre-close, quarterly CFO risk reviews and monthly controllership reviews with senior management
•Drive consistent and effective policies and procedures during monthly/quarterly close process including GE Corporate Data Request submissions, representation letters & adjusting entries
•Ensure accurate and timely statutory & management reporting, by supporting the process and liaising closely with auditors to ensure all deliverables are submitted timely, at a high standard
•Partner with GE Corporate Audit Staff and Finance Managers for internal GE compliance reviews. Drive closure of open audit issues and proactively work to prevent future issues / manage risk. Lead resulting corrective action process implementation and follow up throughout the organization
•Monitor and review that appropriate Internal Controls are in place, in line with local statutory laws and GAPs, GE GAP, US GAAP, and critically examine potential issues where financial risks & opportunities may be drawn out
•Research and advise on complex technical accounting issues and work closely with financial and operational leadership to pro-actively assess and manage financial risk
•Identify potential risks and opportunities and communicate effectively by writing reports and technical papers to present a workable solution
•Proactively lead adherence to GE GAP compliance policies
•Lead the setup of control weaknesses & control gaps among the regions / countries
Rigorous Commercial Controllership
•Build strong links with the Commercial Finance team and liaise closely with the Commercial COE to review commercial deals and manage revenue recognition reporting
•Own relationship and provide support on commercial policies and revenue recognition in line with US GAAP to key business stakeholders, including Business Operations, Commercial Operations (Tenders & Offering and Sales), and Commercial finance
•Create awareness with Commercial & Business Operations on Commercial policies through training in local language
•Drive accurate revenue recognition and orders reporting
•Review non-standard terms and conditions in line with Commercial Contracting Policy 5.0/6.0 and advise on accounting impact
•Ensure accurate accounting for all Commercial activities including but not limited to; concessions, penalties, guarantees, deferred charges, IIT and deferred revenue
•Lead process improvements & standardizations among the regions / countries with significant opportunities due to complexities, growing & immature markets
•Lead the new revenue recognition project within the region that will be impacted significantly.
•Review Commercial related Balance Sheet accounts for unusual or aged items. These include; accounts receivable, factoring, deferred revenue, deferred charges, ECA, non-inventory etc
•Co-ordinate items of interest from a Commercial standpoint and lead the Commercial Representation Letter process
•Partner with numerous business finance functions to align Controllership initiatives and priorities to ensure controllership deadlines are met

Qualifications/Requirements:
1.Graduate BA/BSc or MBA in finance with 10 years of progressive accounting & finance experience including developing forecasts & operating plans and leading business / finance reviews
2.Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/CPA/CFA) & demonstrated experience and understanding of Accounting Principles and Controllership

Desired Characteristics:
•Demonstrates proficiency in U.S. GAAP, local GAAP and authoritative accounting literature (i.e. FASB pronouncements)
•Leadership experience in a Global business environment and experienced in leading teams
•Multi-country accounting/controllership experience
•Capable of forging strong relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner
•Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
•Strong systems skills and aptitude
•Clear thinking/problem solving: successfully led projects/process improvements within operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas
•Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information and in different or unexpected circumstances
•Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
•Confidence/Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions
•Experience working in a matrixed environment
•Fluent in English, written and spoken
