Role Summary: The Field Service Technician will perform Installation, Commissioning, Electro Mechanical Troubleshooting, Repair / Adjustments and Modifications, to GE High Voltage Circuit Breakers and Disconnect Switches worldwide.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Field Service Tech. (E&C) High Voltage Circuit Breaker, you will:
Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
Perform Installation and Commissioning activities at customer site locations
Utilize Test Equipment to insure the Equipment/Component is within Specifications
Be capable of working unsupervised and directing Contractors or Customer Employees in completion of the scope of work
Work with Engineering, Customer Care and Project Managers to ensure the technical integrity and proper Installation and Commissioning of GE High Voltage Equipment
Develop presentations and provides Training and Instruction to Customers
Ensure appropriate Response and Service is provided to customer
Exercise good judgment in controlling cost and expenditures of Company Funds
College or Technical / Trade School Degree in an Engineering / Technical Field
Minimum of 2 years Field Service Circuit Breaker Maintenance Experience in Substation Environment or Equivalent Manufacturing Experience
Ability and willingness to read and understand Electrical, Mechanical Drawings and Engineering Directives
Valid US Driver’s License
Ability and willingness to travel up to 85% of the time, as required
Ability and willingness to attain a US Passport. Work is primarily in the Continental US however Overseas travel is required to support GE Equipment installed worldwide
Ability and willingness frequent lifting and other manual work
Ability and willingness to be on-call, responding to customer / plant needs on off hours
Ability and willingness to gain access and maintain access to a facility per customer requirements
Ability and willingness to adhere to all GE Safety Regulations
Electro Mechanical Experience
Competent in Multimeter Functions
Has strong communication (written and oral)
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Excel) and ability to learn company and site specific computer applications.
Has strong Interpersonal and Leadership Skills
Is customer focused; customer service and results oriented
Has strong analytical skills
Is a team player with the ability to take initiative
Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications
Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures and practice
Integrity: accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others
