Role Summary: In this role of Manufacturing Process Engineer you will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: The Manufacturing Engineer 5 demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. · Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings · Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets · Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation · Conduct cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment · Support EHS projects in cell · Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements · Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment · Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations · Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation · Support the quality function through integration of ISO/QC documentation and Manufacturing methods Instructions · Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the Cell · Attend weekly cross-functional quality sessions and track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for Cell issues · Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations · Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (OR High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution and minimum of 8 years of manufacturing or operations experience)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or operation
Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
Strong mechanical design ability
Prior manufacturing process improvement accomplishments
Ability to manage priorities and achieve results
Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
Junior Military Officer (JMO) or Junior Officer Leadership Program (JOLP) / Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) Graduate (GE Employees ONLY)
Strong Project Management skills
Strong manufacturing process knowledge
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Six Sigma training or equivalent Quality Training
