Role Summary:
The GE Predix Platform Advanced Engagements Team is looking for Sr. Staff Software Engineer with experience in software development, system integration, data modeling/simulation tools, DevOps tools, architectural aspects, automation, application monitoring, best practices and proven processes to build & operate GE Digital Demo Lounge, within planned schedule with superb quality and high availability (99.9%).

Essential Responsibilities:
The candidate needs to have strong communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

GE Digital Demo Lounge includes portal, automation (application deployment & data ingestion to various Predix cloud instances across the world), data modeling & ingestion (with simulated and live data to illustrate compelling use cases) and monitoring the applications (for the health and high availability).

You will work with product management, application engineering teams (across GE businesses including Power, Renewables, Aviation, Oil & Gas, Transportation and Healthcare), solution architects, sales and customers/partners’ teams very closely. You will play a very critical role in successful adoption of Predix platform by building demo environments in various Predix instances across the world.

In this role, you will:
  • Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development m and infrastructure
  • Lead development/integration of demo application catalog (for Predix applications) & demo environment reservation system (home grown or off the shelf product)
  • Build and support deployment (and related automation, monitoring, etc.) of Industrial IoT applications on Predix platform across the world
  • Collaborate with product owners across the GE businesses and partners that will contribute their applications to demo store to define use cases, define asset & data model and generate data set for defined use cases
  • Be smart, enthusiastic, pro-active and friendly technologist to design, build, support, and grow the customer & partner adoption of Predix in a fast paced and agile development environment.
  • Lead impact assessment and decision related to technology choices, design /architectural considerations and implementation strategy.
  • Subject matter expert in Predix platform and related technologies, solution architecture, use cases, processes and methodologies with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations.
  • Expert in navigating through ambiguity and prioritizing conflicting asks.
  • Expert level skills in design, architecture and development, with an ability to take a deep dive in the implementation aspects and influence roadmap.


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 12 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across disciplines and functions within a product/platform organization OR Master’s degree with 8 years of experience OR PhD with 5 years of experience.
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Must be willing to travel (15%)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA


Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience in an Agile, Kanban, Scrum or other project management methodology
  • Have experience and mindset of professional services or system integration engineer
  • Skilled in DevOps tools / automation (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, etc.), Application & Solution architecture, application monitoring (using tools such as New Relic, Kibana/Logstash, Nagios, Sensu, Zabbix, etc.), data generation/simulation tools and use case definitions
  • Expertise / knowledge in tools/technologies such as Docker, Cloud Foundry, AWS, Artifactory, Nexus, Git, SVN and Rally
  • Skilled in tools development using Java, Python, Ruby, Go or other language of choice
  • Skilled in web services (REST, SOAP, OAuth, etc.), SQL, NoSQL database types and IaaS/PaaS/SaaS technologies.
  • Committed to TDD methodology and XP programming techniques
  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
  • Knowledge of or experience with running applications on Cloud Foundry
  • Experience in stream processing engines like Storm, Spark, etc. preferred
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Big Data / Hadoop and NoSQL databases is a big plus
  • Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
  • Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
  • Able to work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
  • Evaluates technology to drive features and roadmaps
  • Differentiates buzzwords from value proposition
  • Embraces technology trends that drive excellence beyond traditional practices (Ex: Test automation in lieu of traditional manual QA practices)
  • Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas
  • Able to verbalize what is behind decisions and downstream implications
  • Participates in technical strategy planning
