Role Summary: The Project Buyer role will have primary responsibility to ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials to support production and sales as well as work to resolve Materials issues while achieving and maintaining inventory business metrics. These general actions will coordinate with global cross-functional teams on a daily basis.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Project Buyer, you will:
Achieve lowest possible cost for material, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs
Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain bids, and plan purchases to meet business needs
Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for assigned projects
Be responsible for assigned projects to meet the requirements of the business
Perform continual material analysis and monitor supplier progress
Perform some or all of the required functions from quoting to satisfactory delivery of material or service
Initiate necessary actions to assure best value is received, customer delivery requirements are met, and address any non-conforming material with supplier
Create purchase orders with sound purchasing practices and assure compliant acquisition of material or service that meet applicable company and government regulations
Maintain “timely” control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other required documents to assure orderly administration and retention of records
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum 2 years of experience in a purchasing or sourcing role OR completion of a GE OMLP program
Ability to work well in a team environment and to perform under pressure/against tight deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time in order to meet delivery deadlines
Six Sigma Trained or Equivalent Quality training; Green Belt certified (GE employees only)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work under tight time deadlines, with frequently changing priorities
Strong customer service mindset with ability to enhance internal customer relationships
