GE announced they signed a definitive agreement to sell the Water & Process Technologies business to SUEZ, a services and solutions company with global operations primarily in water and waste management. The deal will be subject to customary closing conditions such as regulatory review and appropriate consultation and we expect this to be complete by mid-2017. Water & Process Technologies will operate business as usual through this process and will continue to meet its commitments to its valued customers and employees. This includes hiring strong talent to help the business grow and be successful. GE is targeting to complete the sale of the business by mid-2017.
The Application Specialist, APAC role will work closely with the APAC commercial team in providing customer-focused applications expertise to achieve revenue objectives, new market & strategic market growth, and product development efforts. This is a critical role in driving product leadership strategic model by optimizing the added value of the product portfolios, demonstrated and clearly communicated to customers and distribution channels with a result of growth in the market.
This key role will have the following responsibilities:
Demonstrate application and product leadership in the markets we choose to serve. Provide technical and application seminars.
Provide demonstrable examples of the efficacy and versatility of the value proposition with data driven through thoughtful experimental design, sensitivity to customer perceptions and clarity of presentation.
The applications work will range from training Distributors/Direct Sales People in applications and solving individual customer problems to addressing issues that have implications for entire markets.
Assist the regional business manager to make GE instrumentation and methods compliant with local regulations.
Work with marketing department in Headquarters to write Technical Application Notes, and publish technical papers in professional magazines or journals.
Prepare/update/streamline the support materials and articles to align with the Global Applications Team
The position will also serve an important voice in representing the Asian customer to Global Applications and Product Management Leaders so they can address specific needs towards R&D groups, Aftermarket or Technology on issues involving both sustaining engineering and new product activities.
Collect and provide feedback on market changes, new opportunities, and potential growth avenues
Participation in new product launches to ensure that application related product positioning and operating specifications are optimally positioned
Design and maintain an applications project selection process that maximizes profit return to the company
Be able to run a demonstration in an application laboratory or on site with customers.
Make high level contacts with key people on the regulatory bodies and become an expert in this field and the field of product offerings.
Key to the success of this role, would be ones ability to demonstrate or possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Engineering.
· Those with a Masters Degree or Ph.D in a chemistry related area would also be considered
· At least 3 additional years of experience in Engineering position and / or as an Industrial Application Specialist role.
· Those with a background in instrumentation engineering would be highly regarded
· The ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills in both English & Mandarin would be advantageous when interacting with our China based customers.
In addition to the above, we are also looking for the following characteristics
Relevant experience obtained within Industrial markets like semiconductor, municipal drinking water, industrial process, environmental, wastewater, chemical/petroleum and/or power industries.
An independent, self-starter with ability to travel extensively ~ 50% +
Strong public speaking/presentation skills
Excellent communications skills
