Essential Responsibilities:
  • Act as primary customer contact for the duration of each project through commissioning and start-up; resolve specification issues; handle in-out correspondences; provide periodic updates; ensure customer satisfaction; negotiate/coordinate with Sales staff as appropriate for customer-requested changes (price and delivery); arrange witnessed tests; coordinate field service activities with appropriate Service Manager; manage contract and terms: with customers and contractors.
  • Lead execution of retrofit projects. Scope of projects includes one or more of the following: turbine solutions (Speetronic, MkVI, Micronet, Atlas, HMI products), Compressor solutions (Integrated turbine Compressor Control), Mechanical solutions (high pressure servo upgrades, valve operators, MHC to EHC systems, others).
  • Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues.
  • Manage and report all financial aspects of the project including budgets, costs, margin, invoicing, and receivable collection; promotes change order growth; provides estimate-at-completion forecasts.
  • Follow up the advance curve of physical and financial curves on SAP for each project.
  • Develop and maintain project schedule, critical control points.
  • Direct and administer project-related activities to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within internal and external quality/specification requirements; follows GE Quality and QMS procedures.
  • Responsible for the execution of small jobs and training related to the CONTROLS portfolio.
  • Work to be performed at GE and customer locations in LA (primary) with possible work locations globally.
  • Support the business growth initiatives and as a Field Engineer participates as a Regional Service Team member.
  • The position requires 50% - 80% travel in "on-call" situations to support GE product line commitment to its customers of 24 x 7. Same or next day service, 365 days a year.
  • The person in this position will be required to participate in an "on-call" schedule on weekends, holidays and travel may occasionally include extended periods away from home of approximately 3 – 8 week assignments.
  • Translate customer needs / requirements into detailed project plans while driving internal execution to meet project targets.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the project in ways that bring value to our customer and satisfy our profitability requirements.
  • Manage the project budget, time-line and ensure the resources are available to complete the project within budget and on time in order to meet customer obligations.
  • Manage a varied staff that will include employees, customers, partner companies, or subcontractors.
  • Facilitate project closeout reports and Project Review meetings / Offer Functional Lessons Learned feedback.
  • Participate in the ITO proposal process on large or high-risk projects (ITR Process).
  • Participate in the Internal and External Kick-Off Meetings (IKO & EKO).
  • Ensure Quality / Thoroughness of R3 Handoff - Accept R3 Hand-Off and establish accurate Project baseline.
  • Ensure Customer Satisfaction reflected on NPS Survey results


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Possess a five-year technical degree Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE, BSME, MSME), or a two-year degree in Electronics (AAS, BSEE) or Mechanics (AAS, BSME) with equivalent experience.
  • Equivalent military experience may be acceptable as determined by the hiring Service Manager.
  • Experience and basic knowledge of control systems.
  • Solid verbal and written communication, negotiation and analytical skills
  • Ability to read and write English (fluently)
  • Possess a valid driver's license and passport (or able to obtain)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to set and meet aggressive targets and planning
  • Availability for local and international travel
  • Team Leadership


Desired Characteristics:
  • Previous industrial field service experience
  • Controls experience to equipment that functions as a "prime mover"
  • Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills. "Hands-on approach".
  • Computer skills with familiarity with MS Office products
