Role Summary:
The Manufacturing Design Engineer will participate in all aspects of the manufacturing, design and testing of ATS products used on a variety of applications and industries. In this position you will be utilizing a high level of engineering design / analysis skills, be determining applicable and performing analyses and incorporating improvements for current products and developing new product.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Manufacturing Design Engineer, you will:

  • Develop / implement creative solutions to customer impact prioritized product design improvements
  • Work with solid modeling tools (Proe, Ansys) and documents control processes to ensure product design quality / accuracy
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly (DFA), and Reliability (DFR) tools in developing designs
  • Track and resolve prioritized product design quality and cost out projects in a timely manner
  • Work with system and product development teams in the development / creation of all technical documents relative to change control / management
  • Develop proactive, product quality improvements while working closely with the manufacturing team to resolve existing quality issues
  • Have interest in learning new things and not afraid to challenge the status quo
  • Use Fastwork / Agile processes to ensure design solutions meet minimum customer needs with speed
  • Support strong team focus with diverse global product team members
  • Be responsible for manufacturing plans and execution of transformation projects, product development projects and localization projects
  • Be responsible for Manufacturing (MFG) labor cost estimates related to transformation, New Product Implementation (NPI), and localization projects, project investment, expense, and resource requirements
  • Provide detail execution schedules for MFG plans and work with cross functional teams to implement equipment, tooling, and processes to manufacture products and meet customer needs



Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or above from accredited university, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of lean manufacturing or operations experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership or product development experience



Desired Characteristics:
  • Ability to work within a cross functional team and influence decisions
  • Fast learning / aptitude in manufacturing software and hardware tools. i.e. CAD / Pro-E / Eplan / Windchill / SAP, etc
  • Strong lean background. Knowledge of value stream mapping, one-piece flow, Action Workouts, Kaizen, Gemba walk, Production Preparation Process, 5S, and other lean tools
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a customer oriented mindset
  • Prior experience leading cross functional teams
  • Prior experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) / Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Excellent project tracking and detailed planning skills
  • Able to present technical information
