Role Summary:
The Advanced Analytics and Data Science team within the Predix Industrial IoT platform is looking for a senior front-end UI developer who is obsessed with developing pixel-perfect user interfaces, lives and breathes the web and loves to make beautiful applications, pages, interfaces, and products.

Essential Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for designing and programming a feature, set of features, or whole feature area. You will work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across the business.

In this role, you will:
  • Develop application User Interface for cloud-based services, with heavy focus on data visualization
  • Collaborate closely with Architects, Data Scientists, UX Designers, Backend Engineers, Quality Engineers and Product Managers to build and enhance the product features
  • Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts
  • Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
  • Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding
  • Help establish tooling and procedures for next generation front-end stack development
  • Execute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus in delivering tasks to meet the product release goal
  • Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation
  • Seek and provide feedback on design and development
  • Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
  • Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
  • Help in designing interfaces and information exchange between modules
  • Possess advanced domain knowledge and show great customer focus. Expert in processes / methodologies and Skilled in build, release & deployment processes
  • Be an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
  • Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designs
  • Be an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practices


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in designing and developing modern web applications using UI frameworks such as AngularJS and Polymer OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience OR PhD with 3 years of experience
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA


Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:
  • A firm grasp of Computer Science fundamentals including object oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Expert-level experience in designing and developing modern web applications using UI frameworks such as AngularJS and Polymer
  • Hands on experience building single-page web applications on RESTful APIs that perform well in modern, mobile, and legacy browsers (responsive UI)
  • Expert in JavaScript (ES6), jQuery, HTML5, CSS and libraries such as D3, High Charts
  • A passion for UI/UX with a proven track record of delivering shock and awe software
  • Experience building data visualization components for web or SaaS products
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Recent experience working with Node.js frameworks (Express, Koa, Loopback, etc.)
  • Experience with module loaders (ES6 modules, System.js, Require.js, etc.)
  • Experience using, integrating, and optimizing front-end build tools and package managers (Grunt/Gulp, Webpack, NPM, JSPM, etc.)
  • Experience with Single Sign-On technologies such as OAuth and/or SAML
  • Knowledge of front-end performance issues and asset compression
  • Familiar with at least one unit testing framework, such as Mocha or Jasmine
  • Experience with Git version control system
  • Have a passion for quality and writing clean, solid, readable code that scales and performs well

  • Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks
