Role Summary: The Vandalia Maintenance Technician will address all repair and preventative maintenance needs for the facility across Drive Stands, Automated/Manual Machinery, Electrical Work, HVAC and Plumbing.
Essential Responsibilities: • Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment, following blueprint and specifications and using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. • Must conform to all EHS guidelines, including, but not limited to, wearing required PPE • Performs preventive maintenance including daily oil checks and filling on a variety of machines. Performs inspections as needed on tow motors, sprinkler systems, fire exits, above ground tanks, emergency lights and fire pulls. • Occasionally sets up and operates metalworking tools, such as grinders, drill press, and mills to make or repair parts. • Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment working from blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions. • Tests efficiency of heating and air-conditioning equipment. Observes and records readings if instruments such as thermometers, thermocouples, air flow meters, voltmeters, ammeters, and pressure and draft gauges. • Installs and repairs electrical systems and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, welding, and electrical and electronic test equipment. • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, per specifications and plumbing codes. Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. • Paints as needed. Installs variety of items for office and factory use. • Responds to after-hours calls related to security, fire safety, and machine breakdowns.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Experience as an electrician, plumber, maintenance machine repairer, or in other related skilled maintenance positions. • Able to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics. • Able to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment. • Able to exert 10 pounds of force frequently. May occasionally exert 20 to 50 pounds of force (with assistance, if needed). • Proficient in CNC machine troubleshooting & repair • Experience in welding (Mig, Tig, etc.) • High School Diploma/GED
Desired Characteristics: • Experience as a carpenter and heating/ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) specialist • Able to work overtime (50-60 total hours per week) as needed. • Commitment to excellent safety habits • Excellent attendance and punctuality history • Makes decisions based on experience and available data • History of meeting or exceeding job requirements • History of accepting and giving constructive criticism • Positive attitude and ambition to excel / advance in skills and knowledge
