Role Summary:
The Current by GE Digital Product Management organization has an exciting opportunity for a visionary product manager with both technical and commercial product management experience creating cloud platforms. The successful candidate will lead a cross-functional team that will contribute to the software solution’s success by driving the requirements specification, design, development, and go-to-market activities

Essential Responsibilities:

Current is creating the Digital Engine for Intelligent Environments to deliver both efficiency and productivity outcomes to our customers through both in house applications as well as a rich variety of ecosystem solutions. We do this by digitalizing the built environment through sensors, controls and gateways that are connected to GE’s market defining Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) operating system, Predix.

At the core of our Digital Engine is our Cloud Platform that resides in Predix. Our cloud platform serves to unify data models across environments, orchestrates connectivity between the Edge and Cloud, manages access and security, and provides core analytic capabilities used across our application landscape.

The successful candidate will lead the evolution of our Cloud Platform to power the future growth of digital industrial play.

The Product Manager will be responsible for :

  • Directing the full product life cycle from conception to delivery to customer success
  • Acting as the voice of the customer, engaging with external customers and translating their needs into viable solutions
  • Applying a balance of technical and business / market expertise to create a platform that profitably address market needs
  • Owning the commercial success of the product across pricing, go-to-market strategy, marketing and sales support
  • Working closely with engineering and other internal and external stakeholders on prioritizing use cases and requirements
  • Building connections across functions with internal stakeholders, such as engineering, program management, marketing, go-to-market, services, sales and operations to ensure rapid market adoption and financial success
  • Directing and controlling the activities of a broad functional area having overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods, and employees
  • Working with leadership and stakeholders in creating a vision, developing a plan and successfully executing against that plan
  • Building a highly scalable and secure IIoT cloud-based platform
  • Building restful API’s, frameworks and deeper cloud to cloud integrations
  • Creating product strategy including assessing when appropriate to build, buy or partner on technology requirements
  • Identifying technical and commercial partners
  • Serving as a subject matter expert and product expert for our Cloud Platform
  • Driving competitive differentiation, customer value and product line growth
  • Making appropriate tradeoffs on product technical and commercial investment choices

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS Degree, computer science or engineering focus from an accredited University or College
  • Minimum of 10 Years of Product Management experience
    • Including :
    • Experience in defining, building and launching successful platform products
    • Experience with Agile software development methods including developing story maps, detailed user stories, and other requirements artifacts to support the development process
    • Experience working with distributed cross-functional teams across multiple, interdependent projects within a technically complex and fast paced environment
    • and Prior experience in building modern big data technologies, Restful APIs, SDK, and frameworks for cloud based IIoT platforms

  • Proven experience in defining, building and launching successful platform products
  • Deep domain expertise in the technologies and strategies surrounding platform development
  • Deep knowledge of SW development dynamics and go-to-market tactics
  • Proven ability to work, balance, and prioritize a wide range of product inputs from a wide range of stakeholders while having an intuitive sense of market and product requirements
  • Ability to energize teams at all levels of the organization and effectively balance multiple initiatives
  • Strong analytical and statistical data driven approach
  • Strong empathy for the developer audience
  • Strong analytics capabilities, enjoy building financial and revenue models
  • Deep understanding of API management
  • The ability to distill a complex set of requirements into defined deliverables
  • The ability to explain complex concepts in a way that enables the team to understand what they are doing and why
  • Ability to develop and present new product business cases, cost / benefit analysis, economic modeling, and resourcing plans
  • Requires high energy, assertiveness, and self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment with limited direction
  • Have built cloud based multi-tenant capable SaaS products and understands IaaS and PaaS models and architectures
