Role Summary: The Lead Test Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: The Lead Test Engineer, you will:
Be responsible for planning the tests, conducting the tests and reporting the test results back based on the test request submitted
Conduct tests in both external lab and GE internal lab to support new product development
Lead technical personnel in all aspects of engineering validation
Integrate engineering requirements with Test requesters and Customers in preparation for, and during Field Testing
Coordinate testing schedule with external lab to reduce testing duration to meet program schedule
Work with NPI team and system team on testing plan generating and execution to meet standards and PTS
Create and manage overall scheduling for assigned prototype tests
Direct all shipping and logistics to the test locations
Lead or participate in technology and program level reviews
Provide hands-on support of the technical teams preparing and executing test programs
Provide failure analysis and problem solving together with design engineers
Manage internal testing equipment’s to maximize the utilization and meet programs' requirements
Diagnosis, preventive Maintenance and calibration of testing equipment, certified by third party labs
Manage internal testing lab to meet EHS regulations
Be responsible for EHS adherence and maintain safety standards in GE and external labs for him/her as well as technology participants in the tests
Maintain an ISO certified Quality System
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of engineering experience)
Minimum of 3 of years experience in LV / MV switchgear development testing
Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, both locally and internationally
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physical science from an accredited university or college
Familiar with IEC and IEEE LV / MV standards, testing procedures and knowledge of testing equipment and test setup
Strong understanding of agency certification requirements
Demonstrated ability in testing results interpretation and problem solving
Strong project management skills
Solid oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to work independently
