Role Summary:
As a data center facilities and operations leader, you are responsible for operational management of data center facilities, delivering continuous availability for GE applications. You will focus on ensuring data center compliance to standard processed across both owned and operated data center, including co-location arrangements. You will provide capacity metric to aid in forecasting and optimization. You must be able to use experience to make tough decisions in a smart and timely manner.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership to the data center maintenance, facilities and operational teams.
  • Drive capacity management and physical inventory to deliver operational efficiencies.
  • Continuous availability while delivering a rigorous preventive maintenance cycle and compliance to GE data center standards.
  • Hold team accountable for delivering solutions to customers.
  • Implement industry best practices where applicable while focusing on productivity and optimization of electrical and cooling configurations.
  • Engage, leverage, and drive simplified processes.
  • Work collaboratively with the compute, network, storage and other data center operations teams to deliver solutions to the businesses.
  • Manage the data center budget with a continual focus on cost productivity and risk management.
  • Must be able to work in high stress situations and provide support a 24x7 team.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information management or other technical IT field.
  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing large scale data centers. Including vendor performance management, ITIL process usage, relationship management, change management and a strong understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing third parties to deliver data center services.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing an IT budget with a strong financial acumen.

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Broad knowledge including electrical, cooling, server, network wiring and configuration management.
  • Strong analytic skills to help with predictive analysis across the organization.
  • Possesses understanding of core business processes and preparing financials to obtain project approval.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • EHS and crisis management experience or awareness
  • Ability to coach, mentor and drive accountability within the team.
  • Customer focused with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in data center management
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience.
