Role Summary:
The Lead Intellectual Property Specialist provides IP support to the GE businesses.

Essential Responsibilities:
•Draft, prepare and prosecute patent applications in both English and Chinese;
•Work closely with research scientists/engineers to conduct on-line patent searching & analysis, and identify patentable inventions;
•Work with IP Counsel and engineers to conduct defensive IP reviews to assess potential risks;
•Proactive support to IP Counsel, Business Development and Marketing new product development projects, providing IP informatics and analytics to understand growth opportunities and areas where strong external IP may prohibit growth from being realized;
•Using a range of analytics tools and data sources to understand the external IP environment;
•Ensure all work product is prepared to standard formats and uploaded into a centralized data archive;
•Educate and inform key stakeholders on the benefits to be derived from IP informatics and works;
•Lead in projects and/or mentor junior teammate(s) when appropriate/needed;
•Provide IP trainings.


Qualifications/Requirements:
•Bachelor, master, or PhD degree in science and/or engineering;
•Strong legal/patent research and analytical skills;
•Excellent written, oral communication and IT skills;
•Energetic, passionate, motivated, customer focused, desire to win, action oriented and good team player;
•China patent agent qualification is preferred;
•More than 5 years of both US and CN patent drafting/prosecuting experience in a large law firm or corporation preferred.
