Role Summary: The Data Engineering team helps solve our customers' toughest challenges; making flights safer, power cheaper, and oil & gas production safer for people and the environment by leveraging data and analytics. The Lead Data Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across GE to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.
Design/redesign data models and schemas in Oracle, PostgreSQL databases
Design and maintain ETL workflows using Informatica Power Center
Development of stored procedures code according to the best standards
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues
Fixing performance issues (PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL and SQL tuning)
Working closely with Architects and Product Owners to capture system level requirements
Understand entire system, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
Engagement in defining best practices on organization level
Participation in technical reviews and present ideas through white boarding
Provide mentoring and guidance to less-experienced developers in order to improve productivity
Working in an international environment
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
Extensive experience in database design and best architecture practices
Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems
Excellent knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL
Experience in designing ETL workflows
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics
Good knowledge of English
Sense of humour
Understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL tuning techniques
Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility
Previous experience with Agile / Scrum methodology or willingness to work in such
