Role Summary:
The Data Engineering team helps solve our customers' toughest challenges; making flights safer, power cheaper, and oil & gas production safer for people and the environment by leveraging data and analytics. The Lead Data Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across GE to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design/redesign data models and schemas in Oracle, PostgreSQL databases
  • Design and maintain ETL workflows using Informatica Power Center
  • Development of stored procedures code according to the best standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues
  • Fixing performance issues (PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL and SQL tuning)
  • Working closely with Architects and Product Owners to capture system level requirements
  • Understand entire system, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
  • Engagement in defining best practices on organization level
  • Participation in technical reviews and present ideas through white boarding
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to less-experienced developers in order to improve productivity
  • Working in an international environment


  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Extensive experience in database design and best architecture practices
  • Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL
  • Experience in designing ETL workflows
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
  • Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Sense of humour

Desired Characteristics:

  • Understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL tuning techniques
  • Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility
  • Previous experience with Agile / Scrum methodology or willingness to work in such
