Role Summary: The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will provide technical direction to technology based teams and demonstrate technical excellence and leadership in developing new products, technology, applications, and features to meet and exceed our customer expectations. In this role you will be a collaborative member of the project team and work closely with product management, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure project success.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
Be responsible for the design, development, testing, and manufacturing implementation of programs for the Configured Solutions product lines
Plan, execute, and report on the technical design, schedule, and project status of design programs
Demonstrate conformance to Product Technical Specifications and international standards using Design for Six Sigma and Design for Reliability methodologies
Create and maintain technical documentation for all design work and present material for technical review including but not limited to tolerance loops, manual and computer analyses, test results, drawings, BOMs, product cost, problem and action lists, risk management, IP analysis, and FRACAS reviews
Support manufacturing implementation of products through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
Drive cross-functional support, obtain buy in from business teams while challenging functions for speed and efficiency
Execute design using solid models systems (Creo) modeling, assembly and drafting in the sheet metal module
Create mechanical designs using CREO and WindChill and computer simulation using Ansys, Maxwell, and other analytical tools to develop and optimize EntellEon for heat rise, short circuit, and seismic performance
Lead and support simulation analysis, problem solving, R&D, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) for designs and systems
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of electrical product design experience
Willingness and ability to travel 0-20% of the time
Experience working in local and remote project based team environment
Ability to achieve results in a matrix environment
Working knowledge of project management tools and practices (Fastworks, Agile, MS Project)
Panelboard, Switchboard, Busway, Transformer, Motor Control Center, Switchgear, Residential, and flow goods design and testing experience
Takes ownership of work and drives results to meets financial & time deliverables
Proven record of engineering analysis, test, and design execution success
Proven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues
Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to influence and drive change/results
PMP or formal Project Management Training
Green Belt certified or equivalent Quality certification
