Role Summary: The Sr Software Engineer will work as a valued team member of an agile software development team developing high quality software products that meet very specific and sought after customer needs in a competitive product environment. As a member of this team you will lead and help facilitate the team delivering high quality software from development to testing activities
Essential Responsibilities: As a Sr Software Engineer, you will:
Be accountable to functional business for project objectives
Be a member of a New Product Introduction (NPI) team developing engineering solutions that meet product solutions
Ensure code quality is maintained and organized with automation
Support other GE Businesses with growing technical expertise
Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts.
Ability to take ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members.
Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices.
Helps drive pair programming practices and code reviews across the team.
Demonstrates awareness or product positioning and key differentiators.
Expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems.
Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and implements them using appropriate chosen language.
Promotes transparency by proactively sharing design choices with appropriate audiences, with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness.
Demonstrates expert understanding of functional and nonfunctional requirements and their priority within the backlog
Minimum of three years of software development or equivalent
Deep familiarity with Test Driven Development and experience in automated API based testing
Deep familiarity with Agile concepts, preferably Scrum
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in software engineering or related function
Minimum of 3-5 years of applicable working experience in a related field

Desired Characteristics: Technical Expertise:
Extensive experience in languages such as C++, C#, Java, XAML, HTML5
Deep knowledge of relational databases
Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming
