Role Summary: In this role you will:
Essential Responsibilities: As the Proposal Engineer, you will:
Develop timely, comprehensive and professional proposals with key metrics of proposal volume, on-time delivery, hit-rate/win-rate and profitability
Receive vendor quote and SOW from Solution Engineer or quote directly from inbox
Review customer specifications and vendor quotes for compliance
Interpret Drawings, Data Sheets and Specifications to understand and adhere to design intent
Utilize GE’s product configuration tools as needed
Develop / Maintain relationships and aggressively negotiate with key vendor partners and internal GE factories
Interface closely with Sales Managers, Reps, Commercial Operations & Strategic Customers (as required) to develop understanding of CTQ's of opportunity and to provide executable proposals
Leverage breadth and depth of Commercial Operations team by collaborating with peers and manager
Assist in coordination between GE businesses to best leverage the full product / solution portfolio that GE has to offer our customers
Proactively suggest alternates and options (where possible) to reduce cost, improve value to customer and increase profitability
Understand and address commercial factors such as project duration, project location and basic terms and conditions
Aggressively pursue and attend any training opportunities that would provide benefit for Commercial Operations functions
Collaborate & work cross functionally with sales teams, services team, product line management, technology as appropriate to deliver a comprehensive quality proposal
Build expertise & capability around proposal management for this segment
Execute rigorous proposal practices & adopt digital tools for proposal generation
Follow & adhere to proposal standard operating procedures. Use digital tools to construct quality proposals & develop proficiency with various configurators
Ensure quality inputs into proposals & deliver comprehensive proposal within standard turn around times
Be an advocate for Policy 5.0 process & follow process to get approvals as necessary
Drive SFDC data accuracy & incorporate quality standards in the way we work
Create a culture of highest integrity and compliance
Be an advocate for Policy 5.0 and ensure adherence across organization
Customer focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to internal and external customer needs
Ability to energize, develop and build rapport in matrix organization
Proven coordination and influencing skills in a global environment
Posses high ethics and integrity
Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the telecommunication and/or cable industry creating proposals)
Demonstrated experience in proposal creation and/or writing
Demonstrated experience and success in process design, proficiency with digital tools and managing in a matrix environment
Strong process, analytical & communication skills
Matter of expertise in Electrical Distribution offerings
Experience in sales operations functions
