Role Summary: GE Transportation is looking for a Data Analytics Engineer to work on a small Agile/Scrum team developing Movement Planner, a planning and optimization solution for rail.
In two decades, U.S. freight requirements will be double what they are today. Railroad logistics technologies need to move goods faster, smarter and more efficiently to keep up with demand— so locomotives can too. A sophisticated rail traffic control system and logistics planner all in one, Movement Planner intelligently analyses and optimizes traffic, allowing more trains to run on the same railroad at faster speeds, without laying new track.

The Data Analytics Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, developing and deploying cutting edge scalable algorithms, working across GE Transportation to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies. You will be supporting all aspects of the Movement Planner business from early customer engagement through railroad operations modeling through customer analytics delivery.
In this role you will:
Architect, Design and develop new systems and tools to enable users to consume and understand data faster.
Work across multiple cross-functional teams in high visibility roles and own the data solution end-to-end.
Adopt a FastWorks mindset to support Business data and analytics project.
Help drive a best-in-class data engineering practice that will be leveraged across GE
Participates in setting strategy and standards through data architecture and implementation leveraging big data and analytics tools and technologies
Work in an Agile development environment
Engineers structured and unstructured data from source systems to fit business needs
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics or equivalent (STEM)
3-5 years of Data Analytics experience
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Must be willing to travel < 5% of the time
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Melbourne, FL
Experience using Analytics tools such as R and/or MATLAB, SAS.
Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Perl preferred.
Experience in Dashboard development for KPI displays
Advanced degrees preferred. Statistics background a plus
Experience with tools such as GITHub and Rally.
Primary role in recent positions must be as a Data/Big Data Engineer
