Role Summary: Within the Renewable Power sector, the Hydro market is expected to grow in the comings years especially in the medium/small, service and digital markets. Hydro has today a global industrial footprint in Europe, China, India, North-America and Latin America. The addition of Hydro will complement the existing GE energy portfolio, helping to build a leading GE Renewable Energy.
Essential Responsibilities: • Providing legal support and advice to the Hydro Europe functions, including • Structuring, negotiation, approval and preparation of contract documentation for EPC and turnkey agreements • Contractual/legal evaluation of tender enquiries, preparation and/or approval of tender terms and conditions • Participation in client negotiations for major projects • Participation in the preparation and negotiation of consortium agreements, subcontracts, and other internal and external cooperation agreements • Assisting in the provision of legal support and advice in relation to the development and implementation of new business initiatives including reviewing and updating existing standard documentation • Supporting the early identification and management of any disputes and litigation affecting Hydro Europe including preservation of rights and entitlements in contracts with customers, consortium partners, suppliers and others during execution • Assisting in the development of standard procedures, guidelines, precedents, training and other know how in relation to Hydro Europe • Support for establishment and implementation of risk management and compliance strategies including fostering and monitoring compliance with legal agreements
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college plus an advanced degree in law, business, or a related field of study • Member of bar or equivalent and where required, in house counsel registration or admission • Experience working in both civil and common law jurisdictions • Fluency in English and German languages including ability to draft and negotiate in both languages • Strong legal professional having successfully worked within a leading law firm and/or major corporate • Strong technical lawyer with proven transaction skills in complex cross border infrastructure projects • Proven problem-solving ability as well as pragmatism and flexibility/resilience • Commercial acumen and practical, proactive can-do attitude, able to make decisions • Ability to work effectively both independently – taking initiative with good judgment – but also within a team in a collaborative and collegiate manner • Strong transaction management skills – capable of managing multiple transactions with different business teams/jurisdictions, prioritizing appropriately • Strong (written and oral) communication and negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain long term working relationships both internally and externally • Ability to work in international environment • Experience should clearly demonstrate the Technical Competencies and the ability to perform the key responsibilities outlined above
