In Munich GE Additive is now establishing a “Customer Experience Center” – the first of several GE Additive centers planned worldwide to accelerate the use of additive manufacturing. The Munich center will allow current and potential customers to experience first-hand designing and producing components using additive manufacturing.

Role Summary:
You will be a key member of the Customer Experience Center supporting GE Additive and their customers to perform prototype builds and demonstrate the capabilities of the additive manufacturing equipment, and supports training needs. The AME will troubleshoot equipment, optimize parameter sets, and provide feedback to the CAD/CAM engineers to support optimized build orientation and design optimization. The AME will give support to the additive technicians to help troubleshoot day to day issues.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assist in setting up new equipment as additive machines are received and installed in the new facility
  • Act as a leader on specific tasks that require a broad experience base
  • Execute the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems and execute on material: parameter development for new applications that previously were not available
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • Interface with external organizations and supporting functions, and direct / coordinate the efforts of project team members in order to accomplish overall goals

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in an Engineering or equivalent field
  • Experience with machine development, optimization, maintenance, and utilization
  • Experience in direct manufacturing or additive
  • Ability to drive additive technology development and capability through machine enhancements and control of process variables
  • Ability to identify and implement process control and process discipline methodology to the additive manufacturing processes
  • Ability to develop, document, and implement robust calibration methods
  • Extensive mechatronics background

Desired Characteristics:
  • Familiarity with Advanced Manufacturing
  • Hands on experience with Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with lasers, materials, and optics
