Role Summary:
The Materials Buyer will be responsible for all day to day activities focused on the procurement and delivery of assigned material and suppliers. This includes but is not limited to completing all MRP requirements, NCRs, MRB issues etc. In this role, you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Materials Buyer you will:

  • Interface with Production, Sales, and suppliers to schedule the receipt of material to meet production demands
  • Be responsible for material scheduling, updating delivery dates, procurement follow up and expediting suppliers
  • Evaluate and drive resolution on all manufacturing material quality and supply issues
  • Assure that the shop has the necessary materials and configuration records to meet required production levels
  • Identify and react to material plans that do not meet customer requirements
  • Be responsible for assigned commodities / suppliers to meet the requirements of the business
  • Perform some or all of the required functions from initiation of intent to purchase to satisfactory delivery of material or service
  • Perform any job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Material Management, Planning, Purchasing, Inside Sales or Operations)

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior experience utilizing planning systems (Oracle / SAP)
  • Prior experience in production control or planning, supervision, sourcing and/or material control environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Oracle a plus but not required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in all environments
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Customer driven / focused
  • Team oriented and willing to lead others
  • High energy, detail oriented
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as master schedule, safety rules, operating instructions, drawings / prints and procedure manuals – specifically machining requirements
