Role Summary: Responsible for product support testing on GRID Software Solutions for the Support business. In this role, develop, conduct, document, and manage continuous engineering test functions to ensure that supported product releases and patches meet GRID quality assurance [QA] standards.
Essential Responsibilities: Specifically: [a] develop and maintain detailed QA test plans which specify the configuration and deployment of software environments used in testing; [b] carry out structured and unstructured testing in accordance with software test plans, either directly or via supervised staff; [c] coordinate and manage defect tracking and reporting to meet customer and internal service level agreements. Through test execution, efficiently isolate issues, document steps to reproduce, monitor resolution progress, and verify fixes as needed. Manage testing infrastructure, process, and coordination, including leading, training, and mentoring less-experienced QA engineers. Maintain process/procedure documents, perform system administration for Support testing infrastructure, and provide metrics relevant to service delivery. Reports to Support manager responsible for back-office technical infrastructure and services. Interface with multiple business areas to provide effective and responsive service.
Served as Test Engineer and System & Applications Integrator with focus of on Software Quality Assurance and Security. Coordinate product testing activities for GRID Software Solution within Support. Manage continuous engineering test functions: test plans, test environments, defect tracking and reporting. Test methodologies / categories may include regressions, reliability, stress, performance and / or deployment. Manage and maintain Support product testing environments. Prepare and deliver periodic test reports summarizing test plans, test environments, and test outcomes for GRID software performance in relation to operating system vendor [Microsoft, & Red Hat] or other 3rd Party product security patch updates and other scenarios as needed per business requirements. Coordinate and communicate product testing activities with internal clients, including the following: provide test schedules, research vendor patch release and security information as needed, participate in testing team meetings, distribute reports and other testing collateral for review and publication, and provide summary metrics to drive continuous improvement in testing process. Maintain and update process/procedure documents to reflect changes in scope, approach, methodology, technology, etc. Lead / train / mentor less-experienced QA engineers. Perform various system administration tasks related to Support test infrastructure. Interface with multiple business areas to provide effective, responsive service. Interface with internal customers on specific projects or technical issues. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs Global Support Operations.
Qualifications/Requirements: Requires two  or more years of software testing experience, with at least four  years of computer engineering / technical experience or equivalent. Good understanding of software development, test and release processes with a firm grounding in effective quality assurance methodology, and a proven ability to quickly assess application functionality and to create and execute effective test cases. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to draft professional procedures, reports, and memos. Ability to communicate product testing process and procedures to technical and non-technical staff, customers, and partners. Knowledge of Windows and Linux System Administration. Requires demonstrated experience installing and configuring Windows operating systems including Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 2008, Windows 2012, Windows 2016. and Red Hat Linux 6, and 7 operating systems. Knowledge of RDBMS: Microsoft SQL SRV and Oracle Databases Experience with virtual infrastructure as such as VMware technologies Knowledge of networking protocols and security Knowledge of programming and scripting in Perl/PowerShell/VBScript Previous experience on SCADA applications or other energy management system are a great plus.
