Role Summary: The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for practical and innovative ways to meet system design, development and deployment objectives. In this role, you will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. The Lead Systems Engineer will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals
In addition, you will:
Coordinate technical aspects and lead requisitions for complex system implementations.
Work closely with Product Management leaders/Lead Systems Engineers to ensure customer's critical to quality requirements are evaluated and flowed down appropriately through System Functional Specifications and Interface Control Documents.
The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for Systems Engineering of the Trip Optimizer product, a closed loop automated, Energy Management System for Heavy Haul Freight Locomotives. In this role, you will focus on system design including; requirements management, simulation and modeling, and product performance and reliability measurement.
Ensure that the product at the system level is validated.
Participate in the proposal process to ensure that only sound technical solutions are offered to customers.
Configure products for placement on the competitive landscape and define of product specifications including performance, cost, and schedule.
Implement the timely execution of product conceptual designs to meet evolving market needs.
Oversee activities such as; field issues and failures investigations, root causes analysis and implementation of corrective actions, lesson learned issues, and consequently design standards update.
Build solid relationships with key Customers and suppliers.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role or equivalent

Experience with industrial real-time control systems implemented by model-based code generation
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage personal time
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to succeed in a global team environment
