Role Summary: The Materials Manager Wunstorf will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy
Essential Responsibilities: • Lead a Materials planning and purchasing team across multiple business units • Assure inventory and delivery goals are met and drive zero customer disappointments • Evaluate production, sales & inventory and drive the materials strategy to deliver a year on year reduction in the number of days of supply and increased inventory turns • Enhance the current processes, through the use of data, such that they are compatible with the principles of Flow Technology and Demand Based Management • Assure the continued development and growth of assigned personnel through strong leadership • Set strategic direction for planning and scheduling activities within the organization • Provide leadership in using advanced planning tools to model, simulate, and release optimized material plans to the organization and in developing, planning and implementing the master schedule • Lead the organization by establishing shop schedules that adhere to the Department schedule, and support those schedules through the managed efforts of schedulers and coordinator • Communicate and resolve urgent customer issues with Customer Care teams globally
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or In-depth experience in inventory management, shop operations, facilitation and production control in a manufacturing environment, production planning, inventory management principles and practices, or materials management disciplines • Experience in both high-mix, low volume serial production and long-cycle project production • Familiarity with production control systems and routines, knowledge of the manufacturing process • Strong SAP knowledge or experience with another ERP • Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve appropriately • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, compelling analytical ability • Fluent German and English
Desired Characteristics: • Six Sigma Black Belt is helpful and highly preferred • APICS certification is a plus
