Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the technical content of substation automation system and product application projects within the Substation Automation Systems group for North America. To develop the conceptual and system design and liaise with other members of a multi disciplined team to ensure accuracy for the technical content of the project. Assist the Project Management department in the accurate collation of information pertaining to System and product tenders and implementation. Prepare proposals/bids/tenders complete in all respects technically and commercially using the best practices obtaining approval for all bids requiring such, i.e. special pricing. Includes ability to help define technical configuration of quoted products. Provide technical support to customers for automation products including acting as an interface to R&D and the customer for technical development of products. Comprehend Customer specifications and propose optimum engineering solutions. Responsible for analysis of the customer’s needs starting from tender, identification of the appropriate solution according to customer's functional specifications. Develop the conceptual design and liaise with other members of a multidisciplinary team to ensure accuracy for the technical content of the project. Assist the Project Management department in the accurate collation of information pertaining to System tenders and implementation. Design the most appropriate Substation Automation System (general arrangements drawings, control schematic) in accordance with customer specifications and standards. Produce a complete set of specs (including software config guidelines for automation projects) and manage the preparation of project related documentation including functional descriptions, data sheets and test instructions. Configure the automation system and validate the connectivity with IEDs. Provide technical support to commercial team as and when required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, and five (5) years of progressively responsible post-Bachelor’s degree experience in a related occupation required. The position also requires 5 years of protection and control experience; 5 years experience with engineering control systems for HV or MV utility applications and various communication protocols: IEC 61850, UCA 2.0, DNP3.0, Courier, MODBUS, IEC 60870-5-101 / 103 / 104, IEC 61850; 5 years experience with reading/interpreting general and technical documentation including tender/contract documents, drawings, schematics, procedures and policy guidelines; writing routine reports and correspondence; and delivering formal technical presentations to groups of customers; 5 years experience with data communication, automation, SCADA Protection & Control products and technologies; 5 years hands on experience in system integration, configuration and testing of hardware and software products; 5 years experience with Windows, software programming; and 5 years experience with MS Office, PowerPoint, Word, Excel. Approximately 30-40% domestic travel to meet with customers and to support sales. Limited international travel to Canada, United Kingdom and France where major manufacturing facilities are located.
