Role Summary: The Technical Sales Account Manager - San Francisco, CA will work for GE Water & Process Technologies in our San Francisco, CA area. In this role, you will serve as a technical sales and account management representative in the area. The primary industry you will serve will be refineries. This is a customer facing staff role that is responsible for maintaining and winning profitable business. Customer facing staff responsible for winning business.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will work within a geographic area responsible for selling product(s), services, parts, solutions, or projects. Contributes to sales plan in a specific region. Defines sales strategy for targeted clients. Products and systems requiring technical knowledge. Some customization to client conditions can be done. Cooperates with (technical) sales support to realize sales. In this role, you will work within a refinery site / geographic area, be responsible for effective account management, as well as selling product(s), services, parts, solutions, projects, and contributing to the sales plan for the area. You will develop sales strategy for the targeted clients and have technical knowledge regarding products and systems. The Technical Sales Account Manager will work with the GE team on site to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
As the Technical Sales Account Manager, you will:
Be responsible for growing sales to assigned customers and prospects through the formulation and execution of strategies and plans that capitalize on the customer’s and prospects strengths as supplemented by GE’s products and services
Build customer relationships with the assigned customer for sales
Support the assigned customer in sales activities, coordination of GE personnel and technical resources to provide weekly technical services for water and process chemical treatment programs, and provide assistance to the customer in identifying new opportunities
Coordinate activities and establish individual sales strategies obtaining appropriate approvals for pricing, and delivery
Negotiate contracts as required
Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitive actions, product needs, and customer base
Make recommendations for continued growth
Participate in daily operational meetings to communicate GE activities and prioritize work scope and provide customer with recommendations to improve refinery reliability
Learn and maintain awareness of all customer safety and environmental practices
Determine customers' needs and provide effective technical service to resolve issues and inquiries
Participate in collecting and testing water and process samples at accounts and analyze results to provide recommendations to improve quality of treatment
Serve as technical consultant resource to customers using GE technology to solve identified water and process treatment needs
Partner cross functionally within GE to optimize our solutions offering
Develop a plan to effectively meet sales targets by meeting or exceeding key metrics for revenue, account retention, profitability
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in sales)
Minimum of 3+ years of Chemical Solutions Sales Experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
Prior work experience in an industrial / oil refining environment
