Role Summary: This Electrical Engineer position will primarily be responsible for the development of digital and analog control systems used within an Ultrasound system. The successful candidate will join the Ultrasound General Imaging hardware group and interface with a global team to design, test and implement designs to support new product introductions. The candidate will leverage knowledge of digital and analog design techniques and medical device standards to ensure a quality product.
Essential Responsibilities: • Supporting New Product Introductions (NPIs), by executing testing of electronics and high level assemblies (HLAs) to meet quality, reliability and schedule goals. • Leading the hardware activities within the NPI scope • Working with the Ultrasound Installed Base and Customer Care Team by addressing potential electrical design improvements. • Addressing any electrical design, issues and needs from Supply Chain and Supplier Change Requests. • Leading design enhancement opportunity in current forward production product and NPIs, developing the design of digital and analog circuit boards, including FPGA development. • Develop VHDL code to support FPGA-based designs; be proficient in simulating and debugging design. • Model, build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with simulation. • Developing innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability in new products and any potential improvement for existing products. • Supporting the development of test fixtures and test execution to prove design functionality and performance, reliability and production. • Leading quality-engineering projects that provide imaginative solutions to engineering and customer issues. • Verifying product sub-system reliability performance. • Conducting analysis of installed base and new product reliability using FMEA, Weibull Analysis and DFR tools. • Ensuring reliability, performance and delivery through supplier relationships.
Qualifications/Requirements: 1. BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science 2. 5 years of relevant work experience in design and project management 3. Experience or knowledge in the area of digital and analog design and control 4. Experience or knowledge in the area of computer architecture, microprocessors, GPUs and CPUs 5. Demonstrated experience in VHDL designs and simulation tools (Altera, ModelSim) 6. Experience with typical electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers

Desired Characteristics: 1. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Architecture 2. Schematic capture experience 3. Working knowledge of PWA board bring-up and system integration experience 4. Demonstrated experience in design of standard bus formats such as PCIe, CAN, Ethernet, USB, and I2C 5. Demonstrated experience in MATLAB or equivalent simulation/modeling tool 6. Demonstrated self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task 7. Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills 8. Experienced in developing project plans and estimates 9. Effective oral and written communication skills 10.
