Role Summary: VCP (variable cost productivity) is a key customer value differentiator and competitive advantage for Imaging business growth. Should cost leaders are a key part of Imaging VCP programs and operations teams' mission to drive product and service cost out.
Essential Responsibilities: 1. Prioritize products, subsystems, core component parts or key materials for Should Cost analysis, together with cross functional VCP, sourcing and NPI program teams 2. Conduct Should Cost modeling and analysis from design drawings/specs, BOM and material spend, and manufacturing process and supplier capability to competitive cost tear down, industry benchmarking and financial margin projection 3. Improve Should Cost models, tools and data base for Imaging by leveraging best practices from other GE business, adapting from GE Store and exploring external resources 4. Accelerate Should Cost analysis, provide timely should cost results to support Imaging teams to drive productivity from design improvement, make or buy optimization, supplier selection and negotiation
Quality Specific Goals: 1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position 2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines 3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required 4. Drive compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Control FDRs and NPI program milestones 5. Identify continuous improvement activities by initiating the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent field (defined as High School Diploma/GED and 4 years progressive experience 2. 5 years engineering, manufacturing, sourcing or supply chain experience in related field 3. Experience with should costing methodology, tools and process, such as BOM analysis, material spend analysis, manufacturing value add analysis, product hierarchy/reuse and key cost driver analysis, supplier negotiation 4. Global and cross functional communication skills 5. Understanding of finance 6. Project management skills
Desired Characteristics: 1. Working knowledge with GE Healthcare product development, NPI process and engineering work systems 2. Experience with product/subsystem/core component cost tear down, industry or supplier benchmarking 3. Experience with manufacturing value stream mapping, workflow analysis, assembly optimization, waste and variation reduction
