Role Summary: The Innovation Studio offers a portfolio of innovative products developed by our talented and co-located craftsmen based out of the GE Digital Hubs. Innovations such as "MyApps Anywhere - remote access" and "NOW answer engine", are changing the way employees of GE work and innovate for their customers.
Essential Responsibilities: Software Engineers in the Innovation Studio are leaders in identifying problems that face GE employees, proposing creative solutions, and executing with the highest levels of quality. Software Engineers enjoy working closely with the whole team to create solutions, and take pride in learning new languages, frameworks, and techniques that the solution demands.
In this role the Software Engineer will advance our premier remote access and security product serving the majority of GE employees.
A Software Engineer also
Participates in project planning and estimations
Champion sold software engineering practices
Pioneer new approaches when patterns do not meet the need
Measure the impact to the customers' lives and adjust
Takes ownership of the software, and verify through testing at all levels
Biases automation, including build chains, and testing
Provides escalation support of existing applications maintained by the Innovation Studio
Adds to the 'engineering voice' during planning, advocating for automation, CI, and quality
Has working knowledge of SSL and cryptography, and remote access technology such as VPN
A minimum of 3 years software development experience with a systems language such as C, C++ or C#
Bachelor's Degree or certification in IT or equivalent industry experience
Demonstrate the ability to produce quality unit-tested code
