Role Summary:
The Controls Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment.  Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead improvement projects
  • Be responsible for programming and integration of PLC controls into existing equipment
  • Be responsible for designing and developing new control systems
  • Be responsible for Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems
  • Support Production by troubleshooting and programming existing equipmen


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience with control systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and willingness to relocate within 1 year to Huntsville, AL
Ability and willingness to travel extensively to Newark, DE

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills to allow productive collaborative relationships with inside customers, vendors, operations, mechanical and technical personnel
  • Track record of fostering a respectful work environment
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
  • Four years or more of demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of DCS, PLC and single loop controllers. Preferably should have working knowledge of GE PAC systems, GE Fanuc, CompactLogix
  • Self motivated and have great attention to detail
  • Training and experience with Process Hazard Analysis, root cause failure analysis, environmental and quality initiatives
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to learn
