Essential Responsibilities: • Drive improved productivity and quality by interfacing with all GE businesses and plants in China to identify manufacturing issues related to mechanical/chemical processes and materials, develop advanced manufacturing cost-effective solutions, and oversee successful implementation into production • Responsible for leading and executing projects to design, develop, prototype and implement new materials and manufacturing technologies into various product lines in GE plants to reduce costs and cycles (Design for Manufacturability), develop materials and processes in laboratory or workshop as required • Work with technology/engineering teams in the areas of materials design, prototyping, tooling, sourcing, testing and analysis • Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing, sales, marketing, and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, cost savings, and new product development goals within schedule and budget
• Grow technical talent and competency of advanced manufacturing engineers (AME) across GE China, through training, creation of process standards and through technical support. • Support NPI’s with design for manufacturing, drawing and process/tooling reviews as part of program milestones. • Represent GE China to interact with Customers, Government and Academia through tours, training and collaboration, build partnership working mechanism with government and external industrials, identify external manufacturing technology to deliver productivity and enable better new product designs.
Qualifications/Requirements: • M.S, Degree or Above in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university • 5+ years of experience in advanced fabrication, machining and prototyping experience • Familiar with various materials from inorganic materials to organic/polymer materials, hybrid materials, and composite materials and the supply chain and process for each • Sound understanding of materials microstructure and relation to processing method • Proficient in materials characterization methods and testing • Able to take materials and processes from small scale concept to large scale in a full industrial process

Desired Characteristics: • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with industrial device feature machining operations, materials, NDT, mass finishing operations, peening, testing and quality methods, procedures, systems and requirements • Familiarity with a diverse range of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, stamping, casting, welding, brazing, EDM, etc.) • Experience in device and system assembly and test • Electro-mechanical design experience • Ability to develop, organize, and lead projects related to Machining, including Broaching, Drilling, 3-5 axis Milling, Grinding, Advanced Inspection, Advanced CAM, and Final Tooling Expertise. Experience identifying, developing, and leading projects related to process specific Pick & Place and Precision (LEP) Robotics / Automation and other projects • Process Expertise and Engineering associated with power generation components machining and final processing
