Role Summary:
The Sr Staff Software Architect – UI will be a key member of the GE Oil and Gas Digital Architecture team. You will be responsible for driving the UI framework and UI technologies across the team. You will provide leadership, design technology guidance, and mentor-ship to team members.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Sr Staff Software Architect – UI, you will:

  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts and Business Analysts to rapidly understand the domain and understand the different personas and task flow.
  • Architect and design state of the art UI for the best of breed cloud applications.
  • Work with the product team and guide the engineers in choosing the right tool and methodology for UI development.
  • Architect, design and provide POC for responsive and adaptive UI that scales across form factors.
  • Architect, design and provide POC for cloud ready and mobile ready UI with offline capability.
  • Work closely with product management, strategy and product development team to determine UI navigation, branding and configuration.
  • Work with the Data scientists and Analytic teams to determine the best fit UI model for the very data intensive and highly interactive UI widgets.
  • Determine the appropriate balance between client side processing and server side processing for every use case.
  • Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.
  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain.


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 10 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines. With a minimum of 5yrs in UI development



Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

  • Must be willing to work in an office located in San Ramon, CA
  • Must be willing to travel roughly 30% of the time


Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:

  • UI Development experience with solid understanding of UI/UX principles using Web Based technologies HTML, Play, CSS, JS, Angular, Java, .net hosted in Cloud environments.
  • Experience in web development with a focus on the UI HTML, CSS, JS, Angular, Polymer components,
  • Experience with one or more JS framework not limited to Angular, Dojo, React, Redux, Knockout etc
  • Experience with JS unit testing in Jasmine, Qunit or Mocha
  • Must have experience with Ajax, Restful webservices, profiling and debugging complex next generation single page web applications.
  • Must work closely with the UX team to plan and provide feedback for innovative new designs and feature ideas.
  • Experience developing full stack web applications using Perl, Java, Python or PHP
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment
  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
  • Leads teams in developing plans and assessing improvement options.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of business' structure (P&Ls) and the interplay of functions to support business goals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.

Leadership:

  • Develops, motivates and directs staff to create a team environment.
  • Recommends expenditures based on the size, scope, and cost of hardware and software components. Assists in developing business cases.
  • Collaborates with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits.
  • Meets with project leaders and software development Leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.
  • Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale.
