Role Summary:
Sr Software Engineer-Webservices- is responsible for supporting the Project Execution team by building Predix based solutions to digitize the power plant project review process that provides project visibility across multiple functions (planning, engineering, sourcing, etc.) over the course of the power plant life cycle. You will be a member of an integrated squad working together to deliver successful outcomes on the GE Predix platform.

Essential Responsibilities:
Sr Software Engineer- Webservices will be responsible for designing, developing and testing software to create solutions and services tailored to the needs of the business.

- Developing software solutions as part of GPS software portfolio across a wide variety of technologies and domains. Working with a global team, you will help drive the successful implementation of software to support cutting edge products in GPS.

The Sr. Software Engineer role will:
  • Develop microservices to interact between Predix and GE environments for creating analytic/visualization solutions
  • Implement business logics using multiple source systems
  • Partner with UX/UI developers, IT Project managers and functional teams to compose/consolidate technical requirements
  • Conduct analysis for mapping source inputs and assist in design strategy for data modeling
  • Lead coding, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of Predix based solutions
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
  • Collaborate with UX designers, system engineers, data scientists, front-end developers & other back-end developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions
  • Collaborate with US, near-shore, and offshore based team members to deliver software solutions
  • Implement detailed functional and technical specifications & documentation required to satisfy business requirements


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in (IT software development with focus in back-end design and development technologies including:
  • Hands-on experience in web services (REST), using Apache Commons Suite & Maven, SOA
  • Experienced in SQL Database such as Oracle MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.
  • Database tools (JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, Spring Data); rules engines (Camel, Drools, JRules) OR Master’s degree with 2 years of experience (IT software development with focus in back-end design and development technologies including:
  • Hands-on experience in web services (REST), using Apache Commons Suite & Maven, SOA
  • Experienced in SQL Database such as Oracle MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.
  • Database tools (JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, Spring Data); rules engines (Camel, Drools, JRules)
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required ***Occasional travel when needed to a business site. Currently the major project going on is in Schenectady.

  • Desired Characteristics:
    • Master’s Degree/ PHD in Computer Science
    • Experience with Windows and Unix / Linux based programming
    • Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (Energy Management, Oil & Gas, Power & Water)
    • Certified Scrum Master and/or Product Owner
    • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
    • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
    • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
    • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
    • Ability to takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
