Role Summary: The Manufacturing Chemist has a high emphasis on new product innovation, development of analytical techniques and process development on the ÄKTA oligo pilot platform. In addition, this position works in close collaboration with the GE Healthcare R&D and Process Development in the manufacture of synthetic oligonucleotides.
Essential Responsibilities: Duties include (but are not limited to):
Actively involved in the manufacture of oligonucleotides for pre-clinical use in an ISO9001 environment
Writing standard operating and quality procedures
Knowledge of chemistry to deliver new products and involvement in tech transfer and scale-up of oligonucleotides.
Evaluating and extending new concepts as well as providing innovations which can be developed into new product advantages
Maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting synthesis processes on the AKTA100 or 400 synthesis platforms
Quality Specific Goals:
Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or related field
3+ years relevant work experience
Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or related field
Demonstrated record of innovation in the area of scientific expertise
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with research collaborations
Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation
