Role Summary: At GST, the Software Engineer has responsibilities for delivering software modules/features using software development methodologies, following GE Healthcare Quality Procedures, while working in a global environment. This position has programming responsibility within the service tools area for our next-generation of service workflows platform and complex analytics. The software engineer will work within a team, leveraging Agile, under the direction of senior team members or management.
Essential Responsibilities: • Take ownership of tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary • Demonstrate the ability to help team members • Make basic technology choices based on experience • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile, CI, software and product security, scalability, documentation practices, refactoring and testing techniques • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project • Understand core data structures and algorithms and implements them using language of choice • Work with senior engineers and also users to understand needs
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field • 1 year experience in developing software and in the software development life cycle • Experience with Java and/or Web toolkits or similar software language • Working knowledge in configuration management tools such as SVN ------------ • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time • Must be willing to work in GE Waukesha, WI facility full-time • Must submit application for employment through gecareers.com (or COS if internal) to be considered • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
Desired Characteristics: • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related computer field • Java Platform, Enterprise Edition certifications • Experience in GE SW COE platform • Demonstrated applied LEAN 6 Sigma competency • Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance process, and quality management process in the context of software development • Healthcare Services domain knowledge • Experience in working with global teams
