Role Summary:
As the Senior Operations Staff Manager for GE Global Operations (GO) Tax you will be responsible to ensure compliant and efficient tax accounting and reporting processes for specific GE businesses or regions within Europe. In addition, you will lead the tax aspects of key finance as well as tax specific initiatives across Europe/region or businesses working with the broader GE Tax organization, Europe finance team and other GE shared service centers

Essential Responsibilities:

    The position reports directly to the GO Tax Center Leader with responsibilities for
    (1) Leading and directly managing country, regional or business tax controllers and analysts within in GO Tax to perform the following activities for GO managed GE operations:


  • Quarterly tax closing cycles including accounting for taxes, ETR analysis, quarterly reconciliations, FIN48 reserves computations, tax settlements and ASC740 activities including annual return to accrual reconciliations
  • Compile information required to draft statutory disclosures, co-ordinate completion of tax disclosures, co-ordinate statutory audit and resolve queries
  • Support local corporate tax teams regarding tax compliance work and be the interface between finance teams in Center & sites and local corporate tax team regarding collection, preparation and analysis of financial data, legal documents and other relevant information required
     for local tax return filings
     for local tax audits
     under other statutory and/or regulatory rules
  • Ensuring accuracy & adequacy of business' tax reporting processes by evaluating relevant policies and procedures


    (2) Assist Global Tax Controller and European Finance and Stat team with the direct tax aspects related to the implementation of the various Enterprise Standards include “Stat @ Source”
    (3) Partner with Corporate Tax, GE Country Tax COE’s and Business Tax Directors to identify and execute simplification opportunities related to GOF owned entities and branches.
    (4) Provide ASC740 Accounting for Income training and its practical application to the GE GAP reporting processes and be a subject matter expert for the underlying systems and tools


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent
  • Very strong in public accounting, multinational tax department, or shared service center in a compliance focused role
  • Proven project management skills
  • Previous experience with the Tax aspects of systems deployment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in managing relationships within a complex matrix environment.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization (both written and verbal)
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
  • Strong expertise in direct tax processes, accounting and compliance servicing different countries
  • Strong analytical skills & ability to technically discuss with local/regional business controllers, country Stat & Tax leader, local Corporate CIT Leaders and statutory auditors where necessary
  • Flexible approach with a strong team spirit
  • Comfortable delivering against quantitative and qualitative performance metrics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

  • Ability to travel
