Role Summary: As a member of the GE Digital IT organization, the Sr Data Engineer will play a crucial role in driving data quality and stewarding across highly critical Marketing platforms. The successful candidate will partner with Commercial and Marketing teams to drive consistency within data stores and enhance governance/MDM practices.
Serve as a focal point for resolution/escalation of enterprise data issues in the Marketing space.
Define, apply, and enforce data standards and guidelines to drive consistency in data definitions, sources, consumable models, data usage and quality.
Manage the day to day operations and progress of data governance projects, which include extracting data, profiling data, and providing meaningful analysis and recommendations based on the data to drive continuous improvement in enterprise data quality.
Play a key role in acquisition integration activities, partnering with the functional owners and IT application teams to understand data migration needs.
Develop and participate in long-term initiatives with fellow Data Management team members.
Define, monitor & report out Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Marketing data on a periodic basis.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/related field or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience in a data management function
This role can be located in San Ramon, California or Foxboro, Massachusetts

Hands-on experience with one of the major RDBMS and contemporary database technologies, including, but not limited to Big Data / Hadoop (HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Shark, Spark, etc.) or NoSQL.
Exposure to Salesforce, Marketo and other Inquiry-to-Order platforms.
Hands-on technical experience with data modeling, business process, data analysis, profiling, ETL and Data Base Management Systems.
Ability to exercise independent judgment when dealing with competing priorities and initiatives, while keeping all stakeholders informed of issues, progress, status and resolution.
Exceptional communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams as well as business users.
Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.
Ability to hit tight deadlines and work under pressure.
Demonstrated customer focus - evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer/business partner; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoints.
