Role Summary:
The Back-end developer will be responsible for designing, developing and testing software to create solutions and services tailored to the needs of the business and its customers. Requires developed and strong foundational skills and knowledge of relevant technologies in the development, automation, and devOps space. You will be a member of an integrated team working to deliver successful outcomes around automation, software development, and the Predix platform.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development methods and infrastructure
  • Support impact assessment and decision related to technology choices, design/architectural considerations, and implementation strategy
  • Expert level skills in development language: Python/Java
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, data scientists, frontend developers, tools owners, and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP/CI, Software and product security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and testing techniques

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Technology (OR High School diploma/GED with 2+ yrs of IS, IT, CS experience)
  • 1-3 years experience with Python or Java
  • 1+ years of developing restful APIs
  • 1+ years experience unit testing

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Experience in Software Development
  • Strong Debugging/Troubleshooting expertise
  • Experience with NOSQL databases
  • Experience with relational databases
  • AWS/Cloudfoundry/Azure experience of some type
  • Experience with CI system around build automation
  • Knowledge of development tools and integrated build systems: Eclipse, Jenkins, Maven, Automated testing
  • Must be willing to work in our Atlanta, GA facility full time

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Working knowledge of configuration management tools: GIT
  • 1+ years web development expertise with modern frameworks: AngularJS, Polymer, ReactJS
  • Experience with NodeJS
  • Experience with NGINX
  • Experience with Lua
  • Experience with GOLang
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Experience with Automation tools: Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack
  • Experience with containerization: Docker
  • Experience with application logging integration (Log4j, Logstash, Splunk)
  • Integration Knowledge of API Security Architecture (OAuth2, Spring Security, HMAC, WS-Security, WS-Trust, or XACML)
  • Knowledge of Federated security architecture flows and standards (SAML, OpenID_Connect, and JSON_Web-Token (JWT))
  • Hands-on experience developing restful APIs
  • Previous experience with IaaS/PaaS offerings: AWS/Cloudfoundry
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions in matrixed environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to diplomatically advocate for appropriate support staffing levels
  • Ideal candidate will have experience presenting effectively to non-technical audience
  • Strong analytical skills – strong problem solving skills, communicates in clear and succinct manner, and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions.
  • Anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
  • Resourceful and quick learner; able to effectively seek out, learn, apply new areas of expertise as needed
  • Highly self-motivated/able to work independently
