Role Summary: The Analog Power Electronics Lead Design Engineer, designs analog power electronics converter and inverters for motor drives and other power supply applications from a few watts to a few hundred KWs for the next generation of products using state of the art technology. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: • Lead design and analysis AC-DC and AC-DC converter from basic principle using the aviation specific components • Achieve customer specific DC and AC power quality • Develop aviation electrical system design and control using PLECS/SPICE or using mathematical tools such as MATLAB • Proficient in understanding of semiconductor devices such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, specifically for AC-DC converters operating in the 10-100kHz range. • Familiar with pulse width modulation control of converters. • Programming of controller to execute feedback control logic (PI, PID and Intelligent) • Work with PCB designers to optimize space allocations, signal integrity, and power flow. • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project. • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures. • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor's/Master’s/PhD Degree in Electrical/Power Electronics/ controls Engineering from an accredited University. • 4+ years of experience in an engineering position • Good interpersonal communication skills to work in global organization
Desired Characteristics: • Experience designing magnetic circuits and components for power electronic applications. • Proficiency in ANSYS, MATLAB, SIMULINK and SPICE tools • Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems • Knowledge of electrical machines • Experience in embedded controls systems • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
