Essential Responsibilities: - Determine statutory and tax filing obligations - Determine entity/business division landscape - Plan meetings with KPMG/auditors/tax advisors – lead kick off meetings, fee negotiation and engagement letter execution, working with business controller
- Identify Stat to GAAP adjustment types (rev rec, FX, Inventory, etc.) - Coordinate audit field work – handling queries, follow-up on OSM - Review proposed audit adjustments (STAT to GAAP) - Review final Stat to GAAP walk with business and sign-off - Review/create STAT to Tax walk, working with corporate tax, business tax and business finance
- Review financial statements with auditors and prepare for BOD - Finalize and review consolidated accounts prepared - Review VAT reconciliation to be submitted - Review B/S account detail, form 17-4 detail, SG&A detail for tax return preparation - Lead daily communication with Corp tax and PWC advisors - Set-up BOD, prepare public notice of financials, explain financials to country CEO and CFO
- Lead new business set-up, acquisition, liquidation and divestures - Discuss MLPs with KPMG, highlighting facts and appropriate mitigation plans - Support physical inventory count of business - Support transfer price process within Healthcare - Regional cost allocation and settlement with business - Provide updates and training to China team on Japan statutory and tax related matters
Qualifications/Requirements: - In-depth knowledge of the US GAAP, Local GAAP and Tax - Experience in Operational Accounting and Controllership - Strong knowledge of accounting and tax process and system - Experience in dealing with statutory and tax audit - Excellent communication, influencing & presentation skills (including fluency in Japanese and English) - Proven change leadership skills at cross business, cross country and cross function with ability to manage multiple priorities - Ability to assimilate regulatory and compliance requirements into an on-going operational framework - Business acumen – understands commercial and operational business priorities - Significant project management experience in a complex, controllership-orientated, operational environment - Ability to inspire and engage teams through a collaborative approach - Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a proven track record of execution - Ability to assimilate regulatory and compliance requirements into an on-going operational framework - Cultural awareness & sensitivity: ability to flex style to suit differing cultural norms and experience of leading a culturally diverse team
Desired Characteristics: - Big 4 accounting experience, second tier accounting firm, CAS or equivalent (preferred)
