Role Summary: The Lead Electrical Component Engineer works alongside a team of engineers of varying experience to develop and support products in the aerospace market.
Essential Responsibilities: This individual will be responsible for supporting complex and detailed product development programs and be responsible for the design of electronic control components and digital/analog circuit layouts. Innovative problem solving, component selection, analysis, troubleshooting verification and validation activities will all be important aspects of this position.
In addition you will:
Provide leadership to translate customer requirements, write sub-system level requirements and tests as well as perform analysis to define optimized electronic system architectures that advance the state of the art
Perform analysis, design, test and troubleshooting of new and existing electronic systems that meet design, cost and schedule targets
Deliver innovative recommendations for approaches to meet technical, program and business needs
Provide mentorship, guidance and direction to new engineers and interns
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers as well as business leadership
Promote open dialog and study of industry trends, standards and best practices within the engineering team
Assess benefits of emerging technologies toward improved customer value
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering with a minimum 5 years of related experience (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum 15 years of progressive experience in an engineering, scientific or related technical role)
Expertise in Analog and digital circuit designs such as: filters, amplifiers, interfaces, signal conditioning, mixed-signals, power supplies, logic, microcontrollers and memory
PCB design fundamentals such as: layout, design constraints, grounding principles and material selection
EMI / EMC concepts, testing and mitigation
Environmental and performance qualification processes with respect to electronics
Open and closed loop control concepts
Modeling / simulation such as: PSpice, Matlab or Simulink
Thermal management techniques for electronics
Innovative problem solving abilities that push the boundaries of what is possible
Embedded software / Firmware development experience a nice plus, especially in a DO-178 compliant environment
Experience in electrical motors and/or electromechanical design principles
Background and understanding aircraft power systems or air management systems
Expertise with working with customers to define system/sub-system level requirement
Understanding of Military and commercial qualification specifications such as: MIL-STD-704 and DO-254#
